All of our members were all originaly fans of EA's baseball video game MVP Baseball 2005. Many visited a site called Fanfare Games. We evolved into a small community at Fanfare, being drawn to the site and forums in search of CAPs, or Created Players for the game that were not originally included. Eventually, Fanfare's site was suspended when it couldn't be paid for. Both owners were away, and the community had no where to go. Luckily, SpiroEvil, DarkMissle and I, tommyjay117, created a forum on InvisionFree to accomodate our friends who were amiss in cyber limbo, wandering like pixelated cows. We evolved into much of the same community that was at Fanfare, mainly focusing on MVP Baseball Caps.
We existed for some time unhampered, eventually being drawn into the sports graphic design craze that swept the net a year ago, and has since died away for the most part. I was able to create a layout for the InvisionFree forum, and all was well. Eventually Spiro, DM and I welcomed NyMets3000 into ownership status, as he was mainly responsible for our graphics department, and was an essential contributor to our site's future input. With the return of Fanfare being iminent, we decided that we would like to upgrade our own forum, and make a website to go with it. Well, Mets and I were the only ones experienced enough in photoshop to have a chance to pull this off, the other two owners being the brilliant visionaries they were. The task of coding fell to my shoulders, as did the task of migrating our entire IPBFree forum, which was sizeable, over to a much better Invision Power Board that it is today.
Somehow, I was able to pull this off with no SQL knowledge whatsoever. I created a bare bones site from strategies I learned on the internet, and what came to be dubbed by Spiro as "TSL Reloaded" was born. Basically, it is what you see today. Over time, we lost some regulars and gained some regulars. The forum has always looked the same: a noobish attempt to make our forum look professional with different images and some changed colors while others stayed as the default. We have come to love our site, no matter what problems we think we have. We welcome any eccentric personality into our community. As long as you're not a total dick (or was a dick and later begged to be let back into Fanfare), we'll be happy to have you.
We have evolved to have several website layouts, a CAP database, and a sports blog of our own mainly run by Luke Halpert. Our community has grown away from CAPs and graphics, and has settled currenty into a niche of being just a discussion forum for whatever you want. Many things have changed, including the usernames of all four of our owners, but our main use of the lounge has not. Hopefully our site continues to exist, so we'll all have someplace to go to talk about hypothetical weed, Scott Van-Pelt's phone messages, vote off games and SP's boners. Hazzah for TSL! - TJ |
